Kyle Krause has a different approach. You can’t compare him to old-style Italian club owners, nor to some of the American owners with a private equity mindset. The multimillionaire from Des Moines in Iowa has a generational perspective.

Nearly two years after buying Parma Calcio, Krause explains his vision for the current Serie B-side. He is not down about last year’s relegation or the failed promotion because he knows great things take time to build.

Why it matters: American owners play a pivotal role in Italian football. Krause is probably different from many other owners, having a long-term mindset that is rather rare in football. And he wants so much more than just building a winning team.

The perspective: The vision, the capital and the experience of building businesses are definitely in place at Parma, but how different – or tougher - is it for Krause and his management team to build a sustainable business in the football industry?
