Just a few days before season starts Offthepitch.com has learned what the optimum number for Liverpool’s new expansion of Anfield is.

The club expect the expansion could be completed quickly.

Liverpool’s matchday revenue has increased significantly since the new Main Stand opened in 2016.

Liverpool are considering several options ahead of expanding Anfield to a capacity above the 60,000 previously reported.

In a recent interview in New York, the club’s chief executive, Peter Moore, stated for the first time the club’s intention to significantly change the original planning application, which expires in September this year.

Those original plans would have seen Anfield’s capacity increase to 58,800, an increase of around 4,600 extra seats in the stand opposite the Kop. Moore said the current application is "insufficient" for their plans.
