Financial head-to-head Man City v Tottenham

Getty Images | The match on Saturday will also be a battle between two of the transfer windows most expensive players, Spurs’ Ndombele and City’s Rodri. In April City won 1-0 at Etihad by an early goal from Phil Foden.

After seeing Manchester City demolish West Ham 0-5 in the season’s first game week and convincingly defeating promoted Aston Villa 3-1 at home, Spurs face a tough test against last year’s title winners, who look stronger than ever.

While both clubs fielded new arrivals in the first game week, debuts are yet to be handed to Cancelo from Manchester City as well as Lo Celso and Sessegnon from Spurs.

The match will be a direct battle between the two teams’ expensive new midfielders, as Spurs’ Ndombele and City’s Rodri will look to prove themselves among the Premier League’s top midfield strongmen.

Though the English transfer window closed last week, the European transfer window is still open, and Spurs could be forced to sell star playmaker Christian Eriksen to another European club or risk losing the Dane, who is out of contract next summer.
