Stadium attendance in La Liga Santander up five per cent in the first half of the season

Stadium occupancy rates also rose to 74.3 per cent, an average of 28,412 spectators per match.

La Liga Santander welcomed 5,398,206 spectators across its 20 top-flight stadiums in the first half of the season, a five per cent increase on the first half of last year's season.

Average attendance stood at 28,412, corresponding to a stadium occupancy rate of 74.3 per cent, also an increase according to a statement by La Liga. 

In the second division, La Liga Smartbank, the stadium occupancy rate stood at a record 51.6 per cent with more than 2.2 million spectators having attended matches.
