Former Forest owner: “When I took over, it was a zero club, there was nothing there”

Former Nottingham Forest owner was not satisfied with the progress made during his time, but points out the club produced quality homegrown players.

Family pleaded with him to sell the club when fans turned on him.

Former Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz al-Hawasi has admitted he was not entirely happy with the progress while he was in charge at the City Ground, but believes he should be credited for stabilising the club.

“I put my heart into the club and I worked hard and whoever works hard also makes mistakes. There is a thin line between success and failure,” he tells offthepitch.com.

“I dedicated my time and effort to the club, I didn’t miss any games. When I took over, it was a zero club, there was nothing there and they were near the bottom of the Championship.
