Rafael Contreras is a serial entrepreneur with an impressive track record of founding tech companies in areas including robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing.
In March, he became a major shareholder in his hometown club and was made vice president responsible for innovation, sustainability and digitalisation.
"Football is not a modern sector today. We have a lot of work to do," Contreras says, who expects a significant lift in revenues due to different digital initiatives.
The initial focus has been on digitalising processes like ticketing and gathering data from season ticket holders to inform a future "360-degree fan experience".
