Mixed success for football clubs on the stock markets in 2019

Football clubs in Britain had limited success on the stock markets.

AS Roma and AFC Ajax, however, flourished. A possible takeover in Rome and surprising Champions League success in Amsterdam had significant impacts on the clubs' stock values.

Of the many clubs we track on a daily basis here at offthepitch.com, only a handful are traded on stock exchanges.

With 2019 on the books, we have looked at how these clubs' stocks performed from the beginning of the year to its end.

To put their performances into perspective, it's worth noting that the value of all stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) increased by 22 per cent over the course of the previous year. This is measured by the NYSE Composite.
