Media: Newcastle owner to keep £17 million deposit if Saudi Arabian takeover falls through
21 April 2020

The deposit paid by the Amanda Staveley led consortium is non-refundable.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was hours away from confirming the reported deal last week before the Saudi's insisted on delaying.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley will keep the £17 million deposit paid by British financier Amanda Staveley's Saudi Arabian consortium, according to the Daily Mail, even if their reported £300 million deal to take over the club falls through.
Earlier this month it was reported Ashley was in advanced talks with the consortium, said to, besides Staveley, consist of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and one of Britain's biggest investment firms, the Reuben Brothers (founded by David and Simon Reuben).
