Manchester United count devastating cost of pandemic

Britain’s wealthiest football club sees revenues drop 21 per cent for 2020/21 versus last full pre-Covid season, with 93.7 per cent drop in matchday income and 20 per cent drop in commercial.

United count net loss of £92.2 million for 2020/21 season, although bulk of loss is attributable to non-cash tax charge.

Group Managing Director “encouraged” by Britain’s return to live sport this summer and reports “very brisk uptake” of United ticketing and hospitality.

United’s quarterly results are considered a lightning rod for the rest of the football industry.
