Social media followers: Man Utd miles ahead – London clubs fighting to be runners-up

Photo: Getty Images Manchester United are by far the biggest Premier League club on social media based on followers. A total of 120,7 million people are following The Red Devils on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

There is a massive difference in the number of clubs’ social media followers. Even a few outstandingly successful seasons are not enough to catch the biggest clubs in England.

The four clubs which are followed least have less than 1 per cent of Manchester United’s followers.

While their players are battling it out on the field at weekends, media teams at Premier League sides are working daily to inform, entertain and engage on the clubs’ social media profiles.

As Offthepitch.com’s survey shows, there is some correlation between a club’s current position in the Premier League and the size of its social following, when the clubs’ domestic language social media profiles are compared.
