Liverpool FC have been fined £200,000 for fielding Pedro Chirivella Burgos in their third-round match against Milton Keynes Dons in the Carabao Cup.

The 22-year-old Spaniard, who replaced Naby Keita in the second half, had not yet received international clearance following his loan spell with Extremadura UD in Spain last season.

Because of a number of mitigating factors, the EFL board determined that it "wasn't appropriate to expel" Liverpool from the Carabao Cup.
