Benitez says top of club did not share the same vision: Leading the club to promotion secured double income

After Rafael Benitez and Newcastle were not able to agree on terms for an extension of the former manager’s contract, Benitez has written an open letter to fans on Twitter.

In the letter Benitez describes his affection for the club and says he wanted to stay but was not able to because of the decision-makers in the club.

When Benitez and Newcastle won the Championship it doubled the club’s income.

On Friday, Rafael Benitez officially left Newcastle United after more than three years as manager. By the time his contract expired, the club had still not been able to agree on new terms to keep Benitez. But according to Benitez, he wanted to stay in the club.
