Judge's ruling on Wigan stadium valuation could be bad news for other relegated clubs

Wigan have lost an appeal case at the Valuation Tribunal for England (VTE) regarding the rateable valuation of the club's DW Stadium. 

The club argued that there had been a material change by alluding to relegation, but the VTE found that not to be the case. 

"The ruling is bad news for clubs with big modern stadia who were relegated from the EPL," explains rating expert Richard Wackett.
