German Football League wants Bundesliga table to stand if season is cancelled decisively

The move would make sure next season's Bundesliga would not be expanded by two more teams.

Furthermore, the season could be extended to July, though that conflicts with the expiration date of many player contracts.

The German Football League (DFL) wants the Bundesliga table to stand as final in case the current campaign is cancelled decisively, according to German newspaper Bild, likely to make sure next season is not further impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bundesliga, having been granted permission by the German government, will become the first European league to reconvene on 16th May, but could still be suspended again if it is no longer deemed safe.
