According to their just-published financial report, Schalke managed to turn a €40.5 million profit from the 2017/18 season into a €26.1 million loss in 2018/19, mainly due to the club's total lack of Champions League income.

Before making its way to the club's bottom line, Schalke's turnover fell to €259.3 million, from €304.8 million the year before - a result of the lower broadcasting income, which fell from €147.8 million to €108.8 million.
