Everton's chairman, Bill Kenwright, planned to give £1 million to Bury in a personal capacity.
EFL rules prohibited the help being given to the crisis-stricken club.

The money from Kenwright was to be offered in a personal capacity.
According to the Guardian, Kenwright's offer is revealed in a BBC documentary, which also brings to light Everton's club-level discussion with the English Football League (EFL) to determine whether they could offer support to Bury.
