Benfica team up with American baseball club

Photo: Getty Images Benfica's president, Luís Filipe Vieira, said the partnership allows the club to "strengthen relations" with the US team and to "exchange ideas and experiences, and develop new strategies and programmes that will benefit both clubs."

The partnership with the San Francisco Giants aims to promote exchanging expertise across sports, business and technology.

Several clubs are vying for market share in the increasingly competitive US market.

Benfica are teaming up with the San Francisco Giants baseball club in a bid to establish the Portuguese champions on the American market. 

Europe's top football clubs are fighting an increasingly competitive battle for American market share, with several teams recently making major moves. Atletico Madrid are funding the creation of a football club in Canada, Liverpool have already established an academy in the US, and just this week PSG announced they were opening another academy in the country.
