Barnsley have announced the appointment of 42-year-old Gerhard Struber as their new first-team coach. Struber joins the club from the Austrian outfit Wolfsberger AC, with whom Struber has competed in the UEFA Europa League this season.

Struber joins the club immediately and replaces Daniel Stendel, who left the club six weeks ago after leading them to a Championship promotion. Barnsley are currently rock bottom in the league, with their only win coming in the opening fixture.
