Former owner Tony Xia is no longer part of Aston Villa.

The new owners, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, received Xia’s final shares in the club when they paid off his debt to another former owner.

Newly promoted Aston Villa have cut all ties with former owner Tony Xia. He was relieved of his duty as director on 2. August 2019 in all companies related to the club, filings at Companies House show.

Tony Xia sold a controlling stake in the club to Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens last summer - in December he officially lost his position as a person with significant control, which meant that he could no longer make senior changes without being challenged.
