Another nine-figure deficit and a loss in court – but might FC Barcelona finally be on the right track?

Barca booked a €129 million pre-tax loss in 2023/24, though nearly €150 million was attributable to exceptional costs, and the reductions seen in the club’s wage bill are impressive.
Los Cules underlying losses have reduced markedly, though player sales were vital in improving their figures – something which could clash with the stated aim of retaining the club’s best young players.
Why it matters: Barca have drawn yet more damaging headlines recently, but a deeper inspection of the club’s accounts show things are moving in the right direction.
The perspective: Even so, selling future revenue streams is already having a material effect on earning power, and liabilities remain big. If the Espai Barca project doesn’t reap the projected rewards, more sacrifices will be needed.
