Ajax to increase capacity of Johan Cruyff Arena

Around 1,130 seats will be added, bringing the total capacity to 56,120, according to sports venue news outlet Coliseum.

The managing director of Ajax, Edwin van der Sar, also said the club are working to increase their involvement in running the stadium, which is not owned by the club.

Ajax will increase the capacity of the Johan Cruyff Arena ahead of the EURO 2020, a renovation project which will be completed in multiple stages.

Initially, 880 seats will be added before the tournament. In the period after, that figure will be raised to 1,130 seats, bringing the stadium's total capacity to 56,120.
The redevelopment will change the overall shape of the stadium from concave to convex.
