Juventus president oversaw a period of dominance such as Italy has never seen, but with Super League disgrace, exit from ECA and UEFA roles, and Inter’s title win has the tide turned.

Agnelli followed his father Umberto into club presidency and retains the support of his cousin and family head John Elkann.

The press conferences that follow meetings of the representative body of 247 European clubs has in recent years put some club executives in positions that can inspire incredulity.

While ECA policy often seems to be dictated by Europe’s largest clubs, the owners and CEOs of teams like Ajax, HJK and Legia Warsaw are time and again wheeled out to justify it.
