In this interview Michael Ott, 28, explains to Off The Pitch why he decided to take action. It all started with a serious debate event about human rights in Qatar – but Bayern Munich’s leadership never showed up.
Former Bayern president accused PSG and Manchester City for depending on “shitty money” from the Gulf. “But we take the same ‘shitty money’,” says the legal trainee from Mainz.
At the AGM, Bayern Vice President Dieter Mayer decided a vote among the members would be illegal. Munich’s district court also blocked Ott’s motion.
This interpretation of the statutes of Bayern Munich means, according to Ott, that “…members are allowed to have a say in all other sports departments of Bayern Munich other than the football department, which is completely ridiculous.”
Perhaps Bayern’s management are starting to realise their mistake, as President Hainer approached Ott on Saturday night to discuss the case.
