After WTO report: UEFA says piracy 'threatens the existence of professional sport'
17 June 2020
A WTO report on Tuesday ruled Saudi Arabia has failed to stop beoutQ from pirating sports coverage.
UEFA welcomed the verdict and said it would go to great lengths to protect its property and partners.
UEFA has welcomed the World Trade Organization's (WTO) ruling which on Tuesday established Saudi Arabia has failed to stop illegal broadcaster beoutQ from pirating sports coverage and even blocked attempts to shut it down.
The verdict was announced amid scrutiny over the proposed £300 million takeover of Newcastle United by the country's sovereign wealth fund. The Premier League is currently reviewing the deal under its owners' and directors' test, of which parties guilty of overseas crimes against UK law are unable to pass.
