Founder of medical device manufacturer Zynex Thomas Sandgaard on Friday in a Tweet said he had acquired Charlton Athletic after weeks of negotiations.

Sandgaard previously said he had considered launching bids for clubs such as Queens Park Rangers, Swansea, Birmingham City and Southampton FC.

Following weeks of negotiations, it appears as if Charlton Athletic (CAFC) now have a new owner in Danish entrepreneur Thomas Sandgaard who in a Tweet on Friday said he had taken over the London club.

"Today is the day! We did the impossible. We triumphed and we made it to this point because of you. Thank you for your passion, your perseverance, and your patience. There is no club without you," he wrote in a statement addressed to the club's fans, signed "proud owner of CAFC".
