A very important cost is not included in the accounts that show a new big loss for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa recorded a loss of £32.5 million for the 2017-18 season - but the losses are likely to be bigger once group accounts for Recon Group UK are released.

The figures for the period show an operating loss of £32.5 million, compared to £81.3 million in the previous season.

Crucially however, the latest loss does not include player costs - player wages and player amortisation.
