United's commercial business allows the club to reinvest in the football side, Ed Woodward said at a recent employee meeting.
It's important that the commercial side never takes priority, he said, hitting back at critics claiming the opposite.
Manchester United's executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, hit back at critics at a recent annual meeting for employees at Old Trafford.
The club under Woodward have been criticised for focusing more on commercial interests than on improvements on the pitch, as United have suffered disappointing league results in recent years.
However, that's not the case, Woodward argued, as the commercial business allows United to reinvest in the football side of the club.
