UEFA President sets battle lines in row over club competition
PA Images | Speaking at UEFA’s 44th Congress in Amsterdam UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin (Pictured to the left watching an Eresdivisie match in Holland) made it clear that little love is lost between himself and FIFA President Infantino. They have not been speaking for more than a year following an earlier falling out over Infantino’s initial Club World Cup plans.
The Slovenian UEFA-boss takes swipe at FIFA president Infantino: "No football administrator, no matter the size of the ego should think we are the stars of the game.”
Comments follow publication of Infantino’s strategy document that pushes for more FIFA control of international competition.
Ceferin hits out “over commercialisation of our sport” and calls for “purpose over profit”.
