Union of European Clubs (UEC) general secretary, Katarina Pijetlovic, was forced out of the body she co-founded after members raised concerns over pro-Palestinian and anti-war social media posts she made on her personal account.

Launched in April this year, the Union of European Clubs (UEC) represents more than 120 clubs in stakeholder affairs.

Why it matters: After initially making significant membership gains, the UEC has been tested in recent months, first by UEFA declaring rival body as “sole representative body” of Europe’s and now a leadership crisis.

The perspective: Ousted co-founder says: “Organisations are only as valuable as the values they stand by during the hard times.”

The general secretary of the nascent Union of European Clubs (UEC) has been forced out of the organisation that she co-founded after objections to a series of pro-Palestinian and anti-war posts she made on her personal social media account.

Katarina Pijetlovic left the organisation on 21 October “knowing that I gave everything for this organisation that I could humanly give,” adding: “I am not prepared to give my inherent values and personal integrity.”
