The coronavirus pandemic meant the timing around the domestic tender for the Bundesliga's next rights cycle was not ideal, according to chief executive Thomas de Buhr of streaming subscription service DAZN, who secured the rights to a total of 106 matches per season from 2021.

Sky Deutschland and DAZN were on Monday announced to have been awarded the domestic live rights to the Bundesliga from the 2021/22 season to 2024/25 in a deal worth €200 million less than the current €4.64 billion contract.
