Thursday briefing: Former FIFA governance chief says Infantino ineligible for fourth term

Former FIFA governance committee chairman Miguel Maduro says Gianni Infantino is ineligible to stand for a fourth term as president and has urged his critics to challenge his candidacy at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Article 33, paragraph 2 of FIFA’s statutes says no person may serve as president for more than three terms. Maduro argues Infantino has already been elected three times and served three terms.
