Players chief warns of conflict as football faces Groundhog Day on match calendar
- FIFPro general secretary says that the body have not been properly consulted by FIFA as it tries to push for a World Cup biennial and have learned of the proposals via the media.
- Lack of consultation on big issues breeds continual conflict in the game and ultimately causes breaking points, such as the Bosman case, warns Hoffmann.
- “We keep having these conversations through the context of new or expanded competitions, which we think is just basically putting the cart before the horse.”
- Jonas Baer Hoffmann is puzzled “...that these things can get this kind of momentum politically so quickly” – when other issues like equality and racism doesn’t seem to be taken seriously.
