New push by Newcastle bosses to get Benitez to sign new deal
29 May 2019
Newcastle bosses offer the Spaniard a series of options to keep him at Newcastle despite possible change of ownership.
Takeover controversy rumbles on at club with Bin Zayed Group claiming they proved proof of funds in April.
Newcastle’s offer to extend the contract of Rafa Benitez remains on the table with the club keen for him to stay, despite the possibility of a £350 million takeover.
Benitez’s current deal at St James’ Park runs out on June 30, and despite months of talks, there has still to be an agreement about continuing his time as manager.
The Spaniard knew nothing of the possibility of a takeover by Sheik Khaled when the story broke on Sunday evening and further uncertainty has cast doubts on the drive to keep the former Champions League winner at Newcastle.
