Match of the Week LaLiga: Financial head-to-head Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid

Real Madrid have started where they left off last season, taking five wins in the first five games of the season. Atletico have had a less dominant start of the season, sitting seventh ahead of this season's first Madrid derby.

This week Real Madrid announced a net profit of €13 million for the 2021/22 season, after clinching both LaLiga and Champions League.

Looking at the past four years, Real Madrid have been the most profitable of the two, especially due to Atletico Madrid's deficit of €86 million in 2020/21.

That should not come as a shock, as Real Madrid steadily have generated about twice the turnover of Atletico Madrid over the past couple of years.
