AS Roma and FC Porto drew 1-1 in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 play-off, leaving tonight’s second leg finely poised.

AS Roma are having a poor season in their domestic league, currently sitting 9th in Serie A, while FC Porto are 3rd in the Portuguese league, battling to keep pace with Sporting CP and Benfica.

FC Porto consistently outperforms AS Roma in profitability from 20202 to 2024. AS Roma endures a steep downward curve, hitting losses over €200m —highlighting a stark financial contrast between the two clubs.

AS Roma have spent more than double what FC Porto have in 2024/25 and also outspend them on wages; however, FC Porto’s squad valuation has remained higher since February 2024.
