Yet the Old Trafford club are falling behind other European giants, and risk being overtaken by domestic counterparts.

Since Woodwards appointment in 2013 as CEO the commercial revenues have risen by 80 per cent. Their global competitors couldn’t keep pace – but in 2017/2018 something changed.
