Manchester City’s squad the most valuable in the Premier League

A Liverpool club placed surprisingly high on the list of most valuable squads in the Premier League.
Squad value, however, is unreliable and perhaps even irrelevant, according to two football finance experts, who explain what the numbers really mean.
Last year’s Premier League champions unsurprisingly top the list of the most valuable squads in the division with a team worth almost twice as much as their title rivals, Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s squad is worth £488.3 million, a lot more than Jurgen Klopp’s men, who at £273 million form the fourth most valuable team in the league, according to the clubs’ own accounts from the 2017/18 season.
City rivals Manchester United have a squad value of £369.5 million, the second most valuable in the league, just inches ahead of Chelsea at £369.1 million.
