Latest victim of Reading's ruthless managerial strategy leaves club with unimpressive points average
10 October 2019
At Reading, José Gomes achieved the second lowest points average of his career.
The ambitious club are about to hire their tenth manager, also counting caretakers, in six years.
Though José Gomes did succeed in saving Reading from relegation last season, the now former manager of the club has fallen victim to his own career history, which shows little sign of improved results during prolonged stays at clubs.
Gomes' points average at each club during his career has been largely unimpressive, only surpassing 1.38 once among the clubs where he oversaw more than six matches. That was in his first manager job at the Hungarian club Videoton FC, where he achieved an average of 1.87 over 52 matches.
