Bahraini domiciled fund Investcorp are set to take over 7 times European Champions Milan in a €1.18 billion deal in coming days

The company made a name for itself in the 1980s and 1990s by taking stakes in luxury goods groups Gucci and Tiffany, which it bought from under the nose of Donald Trump, and has $34 billion assets under management

Why it matters: Milan are in pole position for a first Scudetto in a decade and the deal – which may reap a 20 per cent margin for outgoing owner Elliott – would represent completion of the club’s resurrection under the US owners

The perspective: In 2017 Abu Dhabi based Mubadala Investment Company took a 20 per cent stake in Investcorp. Mubadala’s CEO is Khaldoon Al Mubarak – also Man City chairman
