FIFA’s president, Gianni Infantino, has put expanding competitions at the heart of his new term in office but says that a decision on who will host the 2030 World Cup may not be made for another four or five years.

FIFA Congress today re-elected Infantino to a new four-year term by acclamation. The Swiss was the unopposed candidate at the 69th FIFA Congress and, following a statutory amendment, a lengthy vote was obviated with the presidency awarded by acclamation.
