Friday briefing: Japanese FA president to challenge Infantino for FIFA presidency

Kozo Tashima, president of the Japanese FA and a member of FIFA’s ruling council, has announced he will challenge Gianni Infantino in March’s presidential election.

The Japanese FA has backed Tashima’s candidacy despite the Asian Football Confederation supporting Infantino. Candidates need letters of support from five national associations to stand.
