Friday briefing: Clearlake completes deal for Walter and Boehly stakes at £5 billion valuation

Clearlake Capital has agreed to acquire Mark Walter and Todd Boehly’s stakes in Chelsea FC, giving the US private equity firm full control of the club in a transaction at about a £5 billion enterprise valuation including debt, shareholder loans and other commitments.

Walter and Boehly are said to secure a small profit on their original investment as they receive £950 million in cash for their combined 25 per cent holding, according to the Financial Times. Clearlake will fund the acquis
