Financial Report: Player sales help almost double Newcastle United's profit

Operating expenses rose slightly last season, but the club managed to secure an operating profit of almost £15 million.
Newcastle considerably improved their profit on disposals of players and are due to receive a large amount in outstanding transfer fees.
The club are still being investigated by the HMRC relating to underpayment of tax and national insurance.
Player sales helped Newcastle United almost double their pre-tax profit last season, the club's just-released financial report has revealed, amid increased scrutiny over a potential £300 million takeover by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
