FIFA's Football Agent Regulations (FFAR) are set to launch on Sunday, introducing new standards governing football agents.
FFAR faces legal challenges in Germany, which has postponed its introduction to the German market, while ongoing actions in France, Italy, and an imminent ruling in the UK might affect full implementation elsewhere.
Why it matters: FFAR are the biggest changes to the rules governing football agents in years, but huge markets are – or potentially are – excluded from its jurisdiction, sowing confusion in the half billion agency industry.
The perspective: FIFA say the reforms will reinforce contractual stability and protect the integrity of the transfer system, but CAS has upheld its authority. However, agents complain they have been “left in the dark” after the multiple legal challenges.
