World football’s leaders convene in Shanghai today, where European football chiefs will seek clarity on the destination of the 2030 World Cup finals.

UEFA had been expecting to face off against competition from South America in the right to stage the centennial tournament, but at FIFA Congress in June the FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested that a bidder from Asia may also be allowed.
