Dutch campaign effectively cancelled as government extends ban on major public events

The country's FA, KNVB, is likely to make a definitive decision after consulting with UEFA.

KNVB says the main reason the season has not been cancelled yet is because of the financial implications.

The current Dutch football season could be definitively cancelled after the country's government on Tuesday extended its ban on major public events until 1st September. 

In what could be another defining moment for European football moving forward, the decision will likely result in the second cancellation of a domestic campaign on the continent due to the coronavirus pandemic. Belgium became the first country to cancel its seasons earlier this month.
