Owner Mel Morris has agreed a deal "in principle" with cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour Sheikh Khaled in a transaction "expected to close very soon".

The deal is no surprise as wantaway Morris has been vocal in his desire to vacate the Championship club, but major questions remain over what the appeal is to the Abu Dhabi royal.

Derby have consistently proven to be an unsustainable operation under Morris with wages-to-revenue ratios exceeding at least 119 per cent and cumulative negative EBITDA of £56.3 million.
