Controversial owner of Charlton Athletic, Tahnoon Nimer, has handed over control of the club to a consortium, the majority shareholder said in a post on Instagram, according to the Evening Standard.

Nimer, who officially took over the club in January for £1 million, had recently signalled a wish to sell the club after a fallout with two of the club's directors, Matt Southall and Jonathan Heller, who have since been removed from the board.
