Bristol City owner on competitors' parachute payments and wealthy owners: "We have to be clever"

Bristol City's owner, Steve Lansdown, believes they are a contender for promotion.

In order to be competitive, City focus on academy development and signing players from lower leagues.

Steve Lansdown CBE, owner of Bristol City, is very excited about the upcoming season, he told BBC Radio Bristol - an excitement he contributes to the work done both on the pitch and in the management rooms over the past couple of years. 

"We've built up to this point and we shouldn't hide from the fact that we've got a good squad and good management team in place and we're in a good place to make an attempt on promotion to the Premiership," he said.
