Barcelona are reported to have turned down a €70 million shirt sponsorship with a crypto exchange because it is “incompatible” with the club’s ethos; but a crypto expert tells us there is “no need to rush into a brand new world”.

Barca’s current shirt sponsorship with Ratuken comes to an end this season, and the club are without a sleeve partner.

Club’s vice president, Eduard Romeu, says: “Whoever wants to put their name on the shirt will have to pay for it.”

“Football clubs, brands, and entities are having to learn extremely quickly that their fans are hypersensitive to authenticity. Especially since the attempted creation of the European Super League,” says expert.
